(AGI) - Florence, Dec. 13 - 337,383 euro are arriving in Tuscany for the improvement of production and trading of honey products. This is provided by the measure approved unanimously by the Regional Council. The act calls for carrying out the national program for the 2006-2007 campaign, which depends on a European community regulation.

The funds, which come from the State and the European Union, will serve 50 percent for technical assistance and professional training of beekeepers, and the remaining 50 percent will be for the rationalization of tranhumanization, thus for the purchase of bee hives, machines and useful means for the practice of nomadism.

"According to the last 2004 consensus," explained Marco Remaschi in parliament (Margherita party, president of the agriculture commission), "in Tuscany there are 87,449 bee hives, for a production characterized for its quality and elevated supply diversification."

The assistance payments, said Remaschi, will be given directly to the final beneficiaries on the basis of payment lists prepared by the mountain Municipalities and communities. Even Roberto Benedetti (Alleanza Nazionale), spoke on the measure to declare his group's favourable vote.
